For us raising funds in the community serves two purposes, it not only raises much needed money to support out work, but is also raises our profile, ensuring that the LGB people are aware that our support that is available to them.

There are lots of way you help us raise funds in the community.

• You can volunteer to join us on bucket shake around your “locals”
• You can ensure you local venue has a LLGS collection tin
• You can organise an event at your local venue
• You can support our HIV prevention work by join our “Walk for Life” team

Bucket shakes
We hold regular bucket shakes in LGB venues across London, where a small teams of volunteers take a leisurely stroll around the local LGB venues encouraging customers to support our work by throwing their coppers or notes in our buckets.

This is an amazing opportunity to not only raise funds, but raise awareness and talk to people about our work. This is an easy way to volunteer as most people on the scene are very supportive of our work and it is an empowering opportunity to listen to some of their experiences of switchboard.

In addition you also get to share a beer or two with a great group of our volunteers and make new friends.

Events
Why not organise an event for LLGS at your local group/pub/club.

• Maybe ask the Manager/Owner to match what you raise.
• Ask the Manager/Owner of your favourite venue to call us to arrange a benefit night.

Collection tins
Put a LLGS collection tin on the bar of your venue telling your customers that you want to support the LGBT community.

It's easy to arrange, email us today and a volunteer will deliver your collection tin as soon as we can.

The tin can be locked into place so you don't have to worry about it's security.

We will do the hard work for you. as a volunteer will come to your venue to empty the tin on a regular basis. Leaving you with none of the hassle of dealing with all those pennies. However those pennies, when added up, do make a significant difference to us.

Walk for Life
Each Year we enter a LLGS team in Cruisaid's Walk for Life, which is a 10km sponsored walk through london on a bright summers day (usually!) raising money for HIV projects.

Sponsorship raised by our team is split 50/50 to support both Cruisaid's HIV work and our HIV prevention and sexual health work on the phones.

This raises a significant amount of money each year to us. It is also great family fun day out with food, drinks, music and entertainment organised by Cruisaid and with lots of stops along the route to socialise and quench one's thirst if you want.
